Never let a baby sleep on or in a nursing pillow, and never leave a baby on one unattended. Nursing pillows are soft, curved and raised — the shape that lets a young baby's chin drop onto their chest or their face turn into the fabric. Infant deaths have been linked to babies left to sleep on feeding pillows.
With twins this matters more, not less, because you cannot watch two babies as closely as one.
Why a twin pillow is different
Wider and firmer than a single nursing pillow. The firmness is the point — two babies put far more weight on it, and a soft pillow collapses in the middle, dropping both below breast height and defeating the purpose.
The width allows the double rugby hold, one baby under each arm.
Why tandem feeding matters
Feeding twins one after the other can take five to six hours a day. Together, roughly half that. In the newborn weeks that is the difference between coping and not.
It takes practice, and most people need help getting both latched at first. Your midwife, health visitor or a local twins group can show you.
The cover
Removable and machine washable. With twins you will need it.
Safety summary
Supervised, awake use only. Never for sleep. Never leave a baby unattended on it. Remove it from the bed after feeding.
