Women's Tops
Women's tops at FlipBuy UK — printed and graphic t-shirts, oversized tees and casual crew necks, mostly between £7.99 and £25.99. Slogan prints, botanical and geometric designs, city graphics, and matching sets for hen parties and couples.
How to choose a t-shirt that lasts more than a season
Most t-shirts fail in one of three predictable ways, and all three are visible before you buy.
- The neckline goes first. A ribbed collar with a visible band holds its shape; a thin single-layer neckline stretches and never recovers. This is the single best predictor of how long a tee will last.
- The print cracks. Screen prints last longer than transfers. If a print looks and feels like a separate plastic layer sitting on the fabric, it will crack; if it feels like part of the fabric, it won't.
- The body twists. Cheaper jersey is knitted in a tube and the side seams spiral after a few washes. A tee with proper side seams stays straight.
How to choose the fit
- Classic and crew neck sits close to the body with a defined shoulder seam. The most versatile, and the easiest to tuck.
- Oversized is cut deliberately loose with a dropped shoulder. Take your normal size — sizing up in an oversized tee gives you a tent rather than a shape.
- Fitted follows the body and needs a little elastane to move. Check the composition if you want it to keep its shape all day.
How to wear a graphic tee past twenty-five
Slogan and graphic tees have a reputation for reading young, but that's about styling more than the shirt.
- Pair it with something structured — a blazer, a shacket, a tailored trouser. The contrast is what makes it look deliberate.
- Tuck the front only. A full tuck reads formal and a loose hem reads scruffy; a front tuck defines the waist without either.
- Keep the print restrained if you'll wear it often. Botanical, geometric and simple text designs date far more slowly than novelty graphics.
- Under a pinafore or dungarees a plain or subtly printed tee does more work than a plain long sleeve.
How to get the sizing right
T-shirt sizing varies more between brands than almost any other garment, and the label tells you little.
- Go by the chest measurement on the product page, not the size letter. Measure a t-shirt you already own and like, flat across the chest, and compare.
- Oversized styles are already sized up. Take your normal size.
- Cotton shrinks slightly on a first hot wash. If a tee fits exactly at purchase, wash it cool.
How to care for printed t-shirts
- Wash inside out, always. This is the difference between a print lasting two years and two months — the friction of the drum is what cracks it.
- Cool wash, 30°C. Heat sets stains and degrades prints, and modern detergents work perfectly well cold.
- Never iron directly over a print. Turn it inside out, or press with a cloth over the top.
- Line dry. Tumble drying is the second-fastest way to ruin a print, and it shrinks cotton.
- Wash whites separately from the first wash, not the third. Graphic tees with strong colours can transfer dye.
How to build a small t-shirt rotation
Five covers most people: two plain in colours you wear constantly, two printed you actually like, and one better-quality tee kept for going out. Beyond that you're storing t-shirts rather than wearing them, and the ones at the bottom of the drawer never get chosen.
Buying for an occasion
Hen parties
Matching bride and bridesmaid tees are here. Order well ahead — you'll need a range of sizes and it's the one purchase in a hen weekend that can't be sorted the night before.
Couples and family
Matching sets work for anniversaries, holidays and photos. Check both sizes are in stock before ordering, since it's a purchase that only works in pairs.
Common questions
Are these 100% cotton?
Compositions vary by product and are listed on each page. Cotton and cotton blends are the most common; blends with a little elastane hold their shape better in fitted styles.
Will the print survive washing?
Washed inside out at 30°C and line dried, yes. Tumble drying on high heat is what causes most print cracking.
What size should I order in an oversized tee?
Your normal size. Oversized styles are cut with the extra room already built in.
Do you stock plain tees as well as prints?
The current range is mostly printed and graphic styles. For plain basics and knitwear, see women's sweatwear.
