The white one is not see-through
The white version is knitted in a slightly heavier weight to reduce transparency, so it works without a vest underneath — which is the usual problem with a white long sleeve.

Why cotton modal
Modal comes from beech wood pulp. Blended with cotton it drapes better than cotton alone and resists the neckline stretching pure cotton develops — which matters most on a V-neck, since a stretched V never recovers its shape.
