A folding commuter kick scooter for teens and adults aged 14 and over, with large 230mm wheels, dual brakes, dual suspension and a quick-fold frame.
Why the wheel size matters
This is the one to choose for real commuting. Small wheels stop dead in potholes, on cobbles and at kerb joins, 230mm wheels roll over them.
They also hold speed better, so you kick less often over the same distance. On a two-mile commute that's the difference between arriving tired and not.
The trade-off is bulk. It folds, but it's a larger folded package than a small-wheeled scooter.
A kick scooter, not electric
Human-powered, so it may legally be used on pavements and in parks. Privately owned electric scooters may not.
Safety
A helmet meeting EN 1078 is strongly advised. Larger wheels mean higher speeds, which makes this more important rather than less.
Wrist guards while you get used to it, wrist injuries are the commonest scooter injury.
Check the folding mechanism is fully locked before every ride. Test both brakes, and allow much more stopping distance in the wet. Watch for metal drain covers and painted road markings.
