A kick scooter, not electric
Worth stating clearly, because it matters legally. This is human-powered, so it may be used on pavements and in parks. Privately owned electric scooters may not. That restriction does not apply here.
It folds for carrying onto trains and buses, which is most of the point for commuting.
Safety
A helmet meeting EN 1078 is strongly advised, adults skip this far more than teenagers do, and adult scooter injuries tend to be worse because of the speed.
Wrist guards are worth having while you get used to it. Wrist injuries are the most common scooter injury, because the instinct in a fall is to put a hand out.
Check the folding mechanism is fully locked before every ride. A fold that engages mid-ride drops the bars without warning.
Test the rear brake before setting off. Braking distance increases sharply in the wet, and metal drain covers and painted road markings are the two surfaces that catch people out.
