A folding kick scooter for teens and adults aged 14 and over, with an aluminium alloy frame, double suspension, slip-resistant tyres and both a rear brake and a hand brake.
Why two brakes matter
The main reason to pick this over a single-brake scooter. A rear fender brake alone is fine at walking pace and poor at commuting speed, particularly downhill or in the wet.
A hand brake gives you controlled stopping without shifting your weight backwards, which is what makes the difference on a hill.
A kick scooter, not electric
Human-powered, so it may legally be used on pavements and in parks. Privately owned electric scooters may not. That restriction does not apply here.
Safety
A helmet meeting EN 1078 is strongly advised. Adults skip helmets more than teenagers do, and adult injuries tend to be worse because of the speed.
Wrist guards are worth having while you learn, wrist injuries are the most common scooter injury.
Check the folding mechanism is fully locked before every ride. Test both brakes before setting off, and allow considerably more stopping distance in the wet. Metal drain covers and painted lines are the surfaces that catch people out.
