What needlepoint actually is

Hand-stitched through an open canvas, one stitch at a time. The texture is real rather than printed, and the colour will not fade or crack the way a print does.

Sunset gradients are a good test of the technique, since they need many shades sitting side by side, which is exactly what hand stitching does well and printing flattens.
