Why muslin rather than a flannel

Muslin has an open, slightly textured weave that lifts cleanser and dead skin without scratching. A flannel holds too much water and drags; a cotton pad absorbs the product you are trying to use. Muslin sits between the two, which is why it is the standard tool for balm and oil cleansing.

How to use it

Massage your cleanser into dry skin, then soak the cloth in warm water, wring it out and sweep the cleanser away. Rinse the cloth as you go. Use a clean side each time.

Washing

Machine washable at 30°C. Use a fresh cloth every couple of days — a damp cloth left in a bathroom harbours bacteria, and putting that back on your face defeats the purpose.

That is the argument for the three-pack: enough to rotate while others are in the wash.
