Choosing a thickness

The first number is the torso thickness in millimetres, the second the arms and legs. UK seas are roughly 7 to 10°C in winter and 15 to 18°C in late summer, so 5/4mm or 6/5mm (often with boots, gloves and a hood) suits winter, 4/3mm spring and autumn, and 3/2mm summer.

For younger surfers, keep sessions shorter in colder water and add boots or a hood as needed.

Sizing

Available in age 10 and age 14, with some sizes limited to certain colours. A wetsuit should fit closely with no large gaps at the back or knees, so check the Vissla size chart for height and weight guidance rather than buying a size up to grow into.
