Choosing a wetsuit jacket

A long sleeve neoprene jacket is usually worn with boardshorts on warm days when a little extra warmth or wind cover helps. A 1mm jacket is a warm-water layer rather than a cold-water suit. Around the UK, sea temperatures are roughly 7 to 10°C in winter and 15 to 18°C in late summer, so a 5/4mm or 6/5mm suit (often with boots, gloves and a hood) suits winter, a 4/3mm spring and autumn, and a 3/2mm the summer months.
