Same size as a cot bed
140 x 70cm is both the standard junior bed size and the standard cot bed size, so if you have a cot bed that converts these sheets work in both configurations and carry on being useful through the transition.

Why four, specifically
Potty training. The toddler bed years and night dryness overlap, and night dryness comes considerably later than daytime — often not until four or five, and accidents continue well beyond that.
Stripping a bed at 2am is much less miserable when there are three clean sheets in the airing cupboard. Four is the number that gets you through a bad week without a laundry crisis.
A waterproof mattress protector under the sheet is the other thing worth having at this stage.
Why 100% cotton
Breathable for temperature regulation, and it softens with washing rather than pilling — which matters when sheets are washed this often.
