Choosing a neoprene jacket

A neoprene jacket covers your torso and arms and can be worn with bikini bottoms, swim shorts or a separate pair of wetsuit bottoms. A 1mm jacket is a warm-water layer for summer days and trips abroad rather than a cold-water suit. Around the UK, sea temperatures are roughly 7 to 10°C in winter and 15 to 18°C in late summer, so a 5/4mm or 6/5mm suit (often with boots, gloves and a hood) suits winter, a 4/3mm spring and autumn, and a 3/2mm the summer months.

Care

Rinse the jacket thoroughly inside and out with fresh water after use and hang it to dry in a cool, shaded place out of direct sunlight. Avoid standing on the jacket when changing.
