Choosing a single fin

Check your board's fin box before buying, as the fin base must fit the box fitted to your board. Fin height and outline change how a board feels: a taller fin gives more hold and drive, a smaller fin is looser. This 8.5in template is aimed at boards ridden with long, flowing lines rather than quick, tight turns.

If you ride a mid-length, try the fin at a few positions in the box. Moving it forward generally makes the board turn more easily, while moving it back adds hold and stability. Rinse fins in fresh water after use and store them out of direct sunlight.
