A single 100% cotton jersey fitted sheet for a crib mattress, 40 x 90cm.

Which cribs this fits

40 x 90cm is the common bedside crib size, used by most Next2Me-style, Cozee-style and similar side-sleeping cribs. Jersey stretches, which gives it more tolerance than a woven sheet if your mattress is a centimetre or two out.

Measure your mattress before ordering. Crib sizes vary more than cot sizes do, and a sheet that does not fit properly is a safety issue rather than an inconvenience.

Why jersey

Knitted rather than woven, so it stretches for a snug wrinkle-free fit and softens rather than stiffening with washing. It also needs no ironing, which nobody was going to do.

Why it must fit snugly

Lullaby Trust safer sleep guidance is a firm, flat mattress with a well-fitting sheet and nothing else in the crib. A loose sheet can work free and bunch, which is a suffocation risk. Check it is taut each time you make the crib up, and replace any sheet whose elastic has slackened.

How many you need

More than one. Cribs are used for the first few months, when night feeds, leaks and being sick are constant. Packs of two and four are also available and work out cheaper per sheet.

Care

Machine washable. Wash before first use — jersey may shrink slightly first wash, which usually improves the fit.
