Cot sizes are not interchangeable and a loose sheet is a safety issue, not just an annoyance.

Measure your mattress rather than going by what the cot is called. All three are sold separately.

Why fitted, and why it must be snug

The Lullaby Trust's safer sleep guidance is a firm, flat mattress with a well-fitting sheet and nothing else in the cot — no quilts, pillows, bumpers or loose bedding for babies under 12 months.

A fitted sheet that's too big can work loose and bunch, which is a suffocation risk. The elasticated hem here grips all the way round rather than just at the corners. Check it's taut every time you make the cot up, and replace any sheet whose elastic has gone slack.

Why 100% cotton

Cotton breathes, which matters for temperature regulation — overheating is a risk factor for SIDS. Polyester blends trap heat. Cotton also softens with washing rather than pilling, and these will be washed a great deal.

Why a pack of two

One on the cot, one in the wash. Two is genuinely the minimum for a baby — night nappies leak and babies are sick. A pack of four is also available if you'd rather not do laundry at 3am.
