Why two rather than one

A single clip pulls the pram to one side, which you notice within a hundred metres. Two lets you balance the load — one bag each side — and the pram steers straight.

It also means you are not moving one clip between bags.

Why the size matters

Small buggy clips fail two ways: they spring open under a heavy bag, or the hook is too narrow for a thick pram handle. At 14cm these take a proper shopping bag and stay shut.

The thing nobody tells you

Hanging bags on a pram handle can tip it over, particularly a lightweight stroller with an unharnessed child, or when you lift the front wheels onto a kerb. Prams tipping backwards from handle-loaded bags is a common cause of injury.

Two clips balancing the weight helps, but does not remove the risk. Keep the weight modest, keep your child harnessed, and take bags off before lifting the pram.

For anything heavy, use the basket underneath — it lowers the centre of gravity rather than raising it.
